Blaenavon Town Band Mayors Concert

Mayors Concert Workmens Hall Blaenavon

Tonight the Band took part in the Mayor of Blaenavon's Annual Charity Concert with a number of other local groups including Blaenavons Ladies Choir and Cor Meibion Gwent.

The Bands programme started off with William Rimmers March 'Old Comrades' and continued with the Peter Graham Euphonium Solo 'The Holy Well' played by Evan Smith.  Then came 'Hot Toddy', the Ted Heath Big Band number and an arrangement of 'Londonderry Air'. Next was 'Vitae Lux' and  finally the last movement of Philip Sparke's Celtic Suite, 'Men of Harlech' which seemed to go down very well with the audience.  Over £1,800 was raised for the Mayors Charities.

The Band was directed by Guest Conductor Andrew Jones, pictured left with Chairman Lyn Davies, to whom the band gives their grateful thanks.
