Band Raises Funds with Sponsored March

Bleanavon Town Band is to undertake an ambitious project to raise money for the trip to Harrogate in September.  The band is planning a Sponsored March from the Band Room to the Goose and Cuckoo Pub and then back again.

The so called ‘Slaidburn-a-thon’ will begin at the Bandroom on Avon Road . The Band will be in full dress uniform and will march off playing a selection of ‘popular’ marches up Ton Mawr Road and across Llanover Road to the Goose and Cuckoo.

After a short break for drinks, sandwiches and oxygen, the band will begin the march back again.

European Brass Band Chief , Loof Lirpa (pictured) was very excited when he heard the news.  “This is a very ambitious project and one that will put the players of Blaenavon Town Band in the Record Books as well as the Hospital.”

Players from the band were unable to comment as they were taking part in a sponsored ‘Pogo-Stick Play-a-thon’.
