Second Section Winners in Ammanford

Normal service was resumed today as Blaenavon Town Band secured first place at the West Wales BBA Contest at Ammanford.  Playing the National finals piece Suite for Brass, the Band gave a more measured and secure performance. 

Adjudicator, Lloyd Landry, praised the bands lovely and beautiful sound and picked out Soprano player Andy Watkins for specific praise.

MD Lyndon Price was very pleased with the result which is a reward for all the hard work he and the band have put in over the last few months.

It was also a major pick me up for Chairman Lyn Davies who had been suffering from mild food poisoning recently but managed to put a smile on his face and a few pints in his belly after picking up the trophy!

The win also meant that MD Lyndon Price was awarded the Melville Jones Trophy for the winning Conductor in Section 2.

The top three were as follows:

1.    Blaenavon Town

2.    Llywdcoed

3.    Ynyshir

This puts the second section Welsh Championship in a very tight race with one competition to go at Treorchy in November.
