Andrew Protherough-Jones, Musical Director
A music graduate of the University of London and Bath Spa University, Andrew trained in, Conducting and Musicianship with Professor Tim Carter and Dr. Lionel Pike and Orchestration with Mr Ian Gardiner. He became Assistant Conductor to the University Symphony Orchestra, conducting works by Wagner, Stravinsky, and Britten amongst others and at this time also had a brief spell conducting Runnymede Brass as well as directing newly commissioned incidental music for the University Theatre department. Andrew is the recipient of prizes awarded by the Incorporated Society of Musicians for the highest marks achieved in ABRSM music examinations. A qualified teacher, he has, for the past eight years, been Director of Music at West Monmouth School. Andrew also sits on CAGAC, the Welsh Association of Music Advisers, where he is currently Vice-Chair of the curriculum group. He is currently completing an MA in education management and leadership. For over ten years Andrew has conducted the acknowledged female choir, Coro Cantabile, and he is also regularly in demand as a conductor of operatic societies and musical theatre across South Wales. |
