Propping Up the Table at Ebbw Vale

Drawn sixth, came sixth. Despite what we thought was a decent performance the Band's only reward was last place in the Second Section at the SEWBBA Contest at Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre.  Peter Grahams Dimensions was the chosen test which the band had played before.  Conductor Gareth Ritter produced a performance full of music and variation but Adjudicator Chris Wormald was not impressed.

Mr Wormald said that it was a very high standard in the Second Section which is some consolation. However, he was rather scathing of our interpretation sighting dynamic and tempo changes as unnecessary and finding fault with the bands attempt to give an exiting performance.

Next Sunday it's Weston and a chance to make amends.  It's the same test piece but a different adjudicator so we shall see.

At least the Blaenafon Concert Band hit back with a win in the Fourth Section. They showed their fighting spirit with St Michaels Mount which cements an excellent start to the year after qualifying at Swansea in March.
