 Blaenavon Town Band

 Grand Charity Concert

Sunday 7th November 2010

Remembering Martin

A special concert in remembrance of Martin Adams who pasted away in June 2009 was held a the Workmen's Hall in Blaenavon on Sunday.  The Concert was raising money for the St David's Foundation and St Anne's Hospice.

The band were in fine form and stamina for a marathon evening of brass band and singing. This singing was provided by the wonderful Mezzo-Soprano Mandy Starr who sang a range of repertoire from Bellini to Rogers and Hammerstein.

Highlight of the evening was the superb trombone soloist Chris Thomas from the Cory Band who proved once again what a excellent musician he is with faultless performances of Londonderry Air, Georgia on My Mind and in tribute to Martin Minnie the Moocher.

The evening was compered by Chris Needs whose jokes, songs and sheer personality made the evening go with great gusto.

The concert raised over £1500 and was a fitting tribute to Martin.
