The Band Plays at the Blaenavon Spring Festival

Both the Senior and Junior Bands were on show at the Blaenavon Spring Festival on Saturday.  The band had been booked to play in Bethlehem Square from 2:00 until 4:00pm.  Guest conductor Eric Powell chose a very entertaining program including The Magnificent Seven, Teddy Bears Picnic and Anything Goes. The weather was warm and sunny which meant lots of people stopping to listen to a few numbers before wandering off to the other attractions on offer.

The Junior band also performed a short 30 minute program during the senior concert interval.  This was a very popular attraction with plenty of support from parents, senior players and bystanders.  This is the first of a few concerts arranged for the Junior Band aimed at raising the profile of the Band and trying to attract more young players.

After the hard work of playing in the sun many band members returned to the band room for a Barbeque and Quiz night. Thanks go to Wayne the Butchers for supplying burgers and sausages and to Lynn and Jane Davies and all who helped organise the event.  It was a very successful evening that everyone enjoyed.
