Junior Band Summer School

This years Junior Band Summer School was hailed as a great success at the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre where the Summer School concert took place.  21 young players took part was well as some adult members of the senior band.  The event took place over 3 days where new music was rehearsed in full band and sectional practice.

The Town Mayor, Councellor Mr Tom Huish, attended the concert and also presented each junior player with a certificate.

The Concert programme was:

• Regal Fanfare

• La Mourisque

• Circus Suite

• Half a Pound - Tuppeny Rice

• A Grand, Grand Waltz

• Band on the Run

Also performing were members of the learners group (Nathan, Lauren, Chloe, Auroroa, Dafydd and Chloe) who played 3 duets under the direction of Penny Dutson.

The Summer School tutors were Evan Smith, Penny Dutson, Lana Tingay and Lyndon Price.

After the Concert it was back to the Bandroom for the presentations and Chips!
