New World Sketches

It was the first time back in Second Section for the band and it was also a return to mid-table mediocrity.  Our last stint in second section was very disappointing with 2 last places and relegation.  This time we showed that at least we can compete at this level and sixth place was a suitable return for a performance that lacked some of the sparkle that we had achieved in rehearsal.

Another late draw (10th out of 10) didn't help with the usual waiting round looking for things to do.  But it was a sunny warm day in the second city and there was also the delights of Joes Ice Cream Parlour.  An early rehearsal in the Cricketers and a final tune up before waiting to perform.

The Test Piece was Dan Price's New World Sketches, an entertaining work that the band has enjoyed.  Adjudicator Alan Hope awarded the following placings.
