Town Band The Band Prepare for Swansea |
The band has been working very hard over the past few weeks preparing for the most important contest of the year, The Welsh Regional Championships held at the Brangwn Hall, Swansea on the 18th and 19th March 2006. The winners and runners up of this contest are invited to represent Wales at the National Brass Band Championships later in the year.
The Third Section test piece is Gilbert Vinters Entertainments which challenges all areas of the band both technically and musically. However, it is a piece the band have played before in Second Section so we are reasonably familiar with it.
There are 9 bands competing in the Third Section on Saturday 18th March:

According to 4BarsRest.com, the favourites are Porthaethwy Menai Bridge with Radyr and Morganstown Mellingriffith also with a shout. Poor old BTB is not even considered for the top six but being the underdogs is not new to us.
The band leaves Blaenavon at 7:30am on Saturday with the Contest starting at 11:30am in Swansea.
