Welsh Championship Decider at Treorchy Saturday is the final contest in the South Wales Brass Band championship. The Treorchy contest the third contest that decides the champion bands and promotion and demotion. There is still plenty to play for on all the sections not least the second section where the title could go one of three ways. In the box seat are Blaenavon Town who have a second and a first, giving them 3 placing points and contest points total of 369. Next best placed is Penclawdd with 4 placing points and a points total of 368. Briton Ferry are also contenders with 5 placing points and a points total of 365.
If Blaenavon Town are placed above Penclawdd and Briton Ferry then they will pick up he Championship. If Penclawdd beat Blaenavon by more than 1 point they will be Champions. If Briton Ferry beat Bleanavon by more than 3 places and Penclawdd by more than 2 places then they are Champions. There could be a tie if Penclawdd beat Blaenavon by 1 place and 1 point then both bands will finish with the same placing points and the same contest points. I'm not sure what the rules are for that, perhaps there will be a high note shot out between the Principal Cornets!
